Three years ago, at the challenge of a fellow mom on a natural parenting message board I frequented, I did my first “Day in the Life” photo project. For one day, I took pictures consistently throughout the day to capture a glimpse of what our life was like. The whole family enjoyed the project and we vowed to continue…ok, I loved it and forced my family to endure my endless shutterbugging! We’ve continued (2008 and 2010 – shot by the amazing Michelle Eick). I treasure these snapshots of life.
A glimpse of life on January 31, 2011:
I love that the kids come piling in every morning. A jumble of arms and legs and sleepy heads. It is good to awaken wrapped up with those you love.
Being the first person down the stairs (while the others shower, dress, organize Legos, and resist putting on clean underwear) means that I find things as I left them last evening. Wishing the rest of the house was this neat-freaky.

Time for the java. I thought I was being really smart teaching the 7 year old to make coffee…until it resulted in a broken coffee maker. We’ve been using the French Press ever since. Makes amazingly rich and lovely coffee.
Breakfast time for the boys. And my unfinished piece of art on the wall…committing to putting one new phrase on it a week!
Lunch box packing time. As you can see, I had peanut butter cookies for breakfast.
Love, love, love our lunchboxes!
Time for just a few karate moves before school.
You know, he’s kinda hot and sexy because he takes the kids out to the bus stop in the cold.
Off to a dr.’s appointment. Putting make-up on in the car. And lest you be concerned for your safety…
…I had a very handsome chauffeur.
Life in the burbs. Driving, driving…
Home, Sweet, Home. Computer, Sweet, Computer.
The highlight of my day. My dear, amazing, wise and gifted friend Jill came by for lunch. Wish I could sit at her feet and just learn. She loves on me by bringing carrot cake, teaching my daughter to bake and speaking incredibly needed words into my life.

Mr. T arrives home. Ceaseless energy personified.
We have been wanting to do some remodeling but unfortunately we don’t count with the budget to do so at the moment. However, I found a new area rug on sale last week and decided to buy it to add some color to the house. As a side note, I also found a roofer through Trusted Roofing website which was a real bonus. It was at a great price and I loved how it felt! Even though it was just one thing that changed, it made a huge difference in the house. My husband and kids noticed it as soon as they stepped in, they absolutely loved it. You can tell how the Rockstar prefers to do his homework on the living room’s cheap rug than doing it on his desk. The house looks cozier than it did before, and it’s a great way to warm up the house.
While Mommy catches up on her “soaps”.
We all need a bit of a snack. Good thing we did some baking during our last snowday. Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Bread from Baked.
He slows down…for a few minutes at least.
Did we grow any more since we checked yesterday???
We heart drop-in visitors!
Personality = not lacking in this family.
Mr. T lets us know how he really feels about the Chicken and Dumplings for dinner. You know, I kinda felt the same. Dinner dud.
Precious bedtime moments.
Home from piano lessons and time for homework. Using the “Mommy and Daddy Dictionary” to complete her vocabulary exercises.
Boys Who Read = YUM!
Hoping for a snow day with her PJ’s on inside out (almost got her wish = 2 hour delay).
Girl Time. We’re outnumbered in this house so we’ve got to stick together.
Yummy warm beverages.
We’re trying to watch all the films nominated for Best Picture before the Oscars. Last night’s viewing of Winter’s Bone brought us up to 7 out of 10. Looks like I need to spend some time at some mid-day matinees over the next weeks!
One last check on the impending weather before bed. Night Night!
Thanks to Rebekah for holding me accountable for another great Day in the Life! Scooch on over to her blog for links to more than a dozen more Day in the Life projects!

I think I spy some Coleman glassware in your house…

Why, yes! Good eye! 🙂 We got the glasses from the Farnhams as a wedding gift. Still around after 11 1/2 years while all the other glasses have broken. I swear those things bounce when dropped!

What a great project – you did such a great job of capturing a slice, it feels like. I want to do this now.

Your pictures are so nice, but my favorite part is how kindly you speak of your husband. So so sweet. 🙂
Thanks for linking up!
