On my Bucket List, firmly in the Top #5…participate in a Flash Mob!
Here’s the thing about a flash mob: people, different abilities, different levels of knowledge about dancing and singing, different jobs, different ages…all coming together for one purpose. Most times that purpose is just plain ol’ fun.
It is all about community.
I had a rather idyllic experience with community when I was growing up. It is only in the past year or so that I have realized that what I experienced wasn’t like the growing up experiences of those around me. I didn’t know at the time how unique the situation was in our small town community. To this day, I could rattle off a dozen people, who in a time of crisis, I could call in a heartbeat. There just was always this sense that someone had your back.
Don’t you wish ever breastfeeding mama knew that someone had their back? Even better, that a whole community had her back?
Even, and maybe even more so, when I screwed up, made mistakes and felt like a failure…
Don’t you wish every breastfeeding mama felt that way? That she wouldn’t feel judged, criticized and discouraged by those around her but rather that they were there, cheering her on?
Imagine with me for a moment. A mama, just after she’s finds out that she’s going to have a baby…she hears the music start. A friend calls to tell her “I believe in you. You can do this.” As the pregnancy progresses, the crowd grows, encourages, acts like a bunch of loyal cheerleaders. By the time baby arrives, there is a whole group of people dancing like crazy to help her meet her goals and to settle into motherhood! Can’t you just see the nurses at the hospital cruising down the hall singing “Don’t Stop Believing…that YOU CAN DO THIS!” (my apologies to Journey’s brilliant lyricist).
Flash Mobs for Mamas. Seriously…amazing.
Do you feel like you had a Flash Mob to cheer you on?
Whose Flash Mob could you join?
