In celebration of World Breastfeeding Week and National Breastfeeding Month, I’m sharing from our 100 Words Project every day.
I hated myself for giving formula. I wanted to breastfeed but it turns out that breast hypoplasia left me without an adequate supply. Six years later I still have just one child and life is so much better. I appreciate that I tried pretty darn hard. I eventually got help for all my infant feeding self-loathing. I appreciate that there have been so many other ways to nourish and nurture a healthy, happy child as she has grown. If I have another child I hope to partially breastfeed but will have no guilt for adding formula – no one should.
